the setting is a very important part of a story because it give you a better understanding of the characters life style, valuers, and personality.
The Great Gatsby is a story based on life in new york back in 1920's, then poeple weren't the same as in our days. they were judged based on what you poses, e.g houses, money, cars and more. if we take for example Nike, he was poor compered to the people around him, he did not have the biggest house and had just enough money to support himself and for the reason halon he could not even get himself a wife to take him away from his loneliness.
